Race 2, the result

Despite a win in both race one and race two for Lightning this weekend in Sonoma, the championship rules dealt a bitter blow to the team. As both Barnes and Hunt scored a DNF in one of the races the overall winner based on an aggregate score across the weekend goes to a racer who had a consistent second place finish in both races... Martin Swarc was named overall winner of the race weekend; a triumph for consistency.

Inside the heads of the riders, Laguna Seca

Against a backdrop of quiet confident calm we took time out this morning to ask what some of the the riders feel going into todays practise. This wil be the first time that many bikes meet their fellow electric race teams so the feeling was one of excitement as well as quiet confidence. "I'm stoked to be back at Laguna after racing Superbikes here last year. It's been fun racing with the Brammo team on electric bikes in TTXGP and it's cool to see the bike continue to develop and get faster and faster. This is a big event in the world of electric motorcycle racing and all the factory teams are out here competing for top honors. Our bike may be a little down on power compared to the others, but we're still feeling confident we can challenge for a win here!"

Starting in the same order as this morning, the teams took to the grid on full wet set up, as despite the rain easing, the track was still wet with areas of standing water. Jenny led the field around on the warm up lap and the bikes settled into their grid positions for the final regional rounds this year. The marshal raised the flag, pointed to the lights and the riders set themselves for their last attempt at the titles.

This was the first time that the teams from the TTXGP UK and European Championships got to size each other up. There were fourteen riders that took part this morning, just missing Rob Moon from Team Agni whose team are still readying the bike after Assen. The track was mainly dry, but with some damp patches around Druids, some riders were complaining of having to back off to avoid a front end washout.

After an action packed morning practice, the teams and riders were itching to get out on the track again and go wheel to wheel with each other now that the Anglesey weather had calmed down. The tension in the paddock was mounting and the noticeable rivalry between the Team Agni riders was evident, both with a point to prove after the close duel for second at Snetterton.
